Why Knits Matter
Knits move, breathe, and stretch. They can be delicate, requiring hand washing, but they are beloved. Small holes, unraveling cuffs, or a stretch out waistband can be repaired — and often improved upon — with careful hand-mending techniques.
The Restoration Process
We begin by examining the knit’s structure: Is it wool, cotton, alpaca? From there, we find a mending fiber. Sometimes, part of the garment’s yarn can be used. It can be unwound, washed, and reknitted. The goal is not perfection, but rather art.
